So thanks to modern technology and cutting-edge materials, it seems like you can have your car in just about any color you want these days. So I was wondering what is your favorite non-stock color? One of mine is British Racing Green on this Aston Martin DBS. It's truly a shame this color was never offered as a factory option for the DBS as it, in my opinion, is so much prettier than the factory greens.
Non Factory Color -

Factory Colors -
Aston Martin Racing Green:
Hardly Green:
Viridian Green (I couldn't find a DBS):
Appletree Green (I couldn't find a DBS):
Feel free to post your favorite colors in the comments section. Also, if you disagree with me and feel that one of the factory DBS greens is better than the BRG one, let me know.
To clarify, when I say "non stock" I mean that the color was never offered on a particular model, not necessarily that the company never produced it. For example, the DBS was never offered in British Racing Green but Aston Martin has painted its cars BRG before. Another example is the DBS below which is painted Rosso Corsa, a Ferrari color.

Them all. I want all of them. Those colors should have been offered up from the factory.

Sorry, I should have clarified. All of the colors shown were offered by the factory for the DBS except the British Racing Green.

Oh, Ok I understand. My mistake.
How can they offer everything BUT British racing green?
Where have all the lightweights gone?

That boggles my mind. How can the most quintessentially British sports car maker NOT offer British Racing Green?

I know it's deplorable especially when it looks that good.

I do love their Aston Martin Racing Green, but that British Racing Green is too pretty.
This might be my favorite non stock, uh... color(s), though I doubt this was the answer you were looking for. Ahaha.

I agree it's definitely not a bad color. In fact, it's the one they use on their race cars. However, I still prefer BRG.
I think that's great. Very creative for sure.

BRG is without a doubt a prettier color. Someone who my grandfather knows has a BRG Jag E-Type. Its easily the most striking color I've ever seen on that car.

A proper BRG should be offered on all fast British cars.
Saying that, Aston Racing Green is their version of BRG. It varies marque-to-marque. The traditional BRG is similar to Jaguar's hue, but Astons is much lighter and Bentley's is so dark it's almost black.

I tried to go to the Ferrari website to look at their optional colors that cost extra. I wanted to find the names of my favorite ones and then do Google Image searches to find pics to post.
But their crappy Flash configurator is so bad it crashed the Chrome browser on my desktop.
Ferrari's website is truly terrible.

Very similar, but without the white walls and in coupe form. It's absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure if its the original color or not though. He had a black coupe, and I'm not sure if he sold it and got the BRG, or if he painted it.

Haha. I guess the rumor about Italians and electronics is true. Here's some to get you started:
Argento Nurburgring Metallic, Bianco Avus, Blu Abu Dhabi Metallic, Blu Mirabeau Metallic, Blu Pozzi, Blu Tour De France Metallic, Giallo Modena, Grigio Alloy Metallic, Grigio Ingrid Metallic, Grigio Silverstone Metallic, Grigio Titanio Metallic, Nero Daytona Metallic, Rosso Corsa, Rosso Mugello, and Rosso Scuderia

You're doing fine. My original intention was for people to post pictures of cars in their favorite non-factory colors like this Ford GT in Lamborghini Orange Pearl or this Ferrari F40 that has been wrapped in Chrome Blue but I didn't explain myself very well. Should I start a "What's your favorite factory color" thread?

It's so true! I need to extract a still frame from a video I took of my old man's 612 (need to learn how to do that first, lol) to post for you. Every error possible is flashing. But they're erroneous. True Italian electronics...
Thanks for the paint list! I looked up all the blues you listed and couldn't find the one I'm looking for. It's a special order. It's not metallic and lighter than most the blues. But it's also not so light that it's a silver-blue. It's so nice.

Ahaha. Oh, I try. He's actually extremely nice and helped me out a lot when I was looking for my 2002. He's got some great cars. My grandfather, on the other hand, likes weird things. I guess he's a Jalop. His pride and joy is his Triumph Spitfire that he used to race, and he's also got a Jaguar XJ308 and... wait for it... a first gen convertible Corvair turbo (why?).

Haha that's hilarious. These are all modern Ferrari colors. There's historic colors like Blu Swaters, Blu Scozia, and Azzurro California. I'll try to think of more.

I was trying to find the historic colors when the website crashed on me.
Can customers also order totally custom colors that had never been made before?
Someone on Oppo showed me a 458 in this amazing blue. But it may have been a custom blue that isn't a current or historic color.

He's cool. He's a bit odd, but its nice to have another car guy in the family. We've actually got a little project together for this summer on the 2002. It should be a blast to work on something with him except his music taste is SO weird and he listens to a lot of NPR, so I might end up falling asleep underneath my car if that's what he decides he wants to listen to while we're working.

That is awesome.
I wish I was in a position to order a 458 Speciale right now.
I would figure out what that blue was and get either white or yellow stripes.
I know the traditional choice would be white stripes. But I would really dig yellow stripes to go with yellow brake calipers and yellow stitching.

New brakes and a new front end (long story short, brake pedal went right to the floor and the e-brake had only sort of worked since I got it) so I'll get some practice welding. That's the main project, but if we can get that done I have a set of Webber carbs sitting in a box and shorty headers. After that, new wheels that have been sitting in my bedroom for months and eventually a decent suspension upgrade.

Speaking of Speciales, I remember this GTSpirit article had some great photos of a blue one.

After months of searching, I found a set of Gotti 150s in Spain. Shipping was a bitch, but they were the only set I could find in 4x100. Here's a picture. They're a little different, and I couldn't find any pictures of them on a 2002, but I think they'll look really cool. And they wont be quite as flashy as the gold BBSs that I had on.

Oviously a favorite of mine sorry for the poor quality its been in storage. when I went for a respray I landed on DuPont's Jag brg in the color book, a hue I was going for to lend at least a little class/irony to a simple DSM. Flush hood pins to come the hood is second hand.
Simple-ish. A green pearl was free so eff it. Also because vocational students. Looks like normal brg in overcast days aand in the sunlight enough pimpalicious gold dust to make Xzibit blush .
My initial reaction

Thanks, man. Unfortunately they won't be as easy to fit. I need a spacer out back, and since '02s have press in wheel studs, I need to get extended press ins. It could be worse, but its just one more thing to keep in mind. Ahaha.
This was a big portion of the inspiration:
I'm definitely not going anywhere near as low. I'll probably end up going 2 inches lower than stock, but 2002s had like 2-2.5 inches of wheel gap from the factory. I just love the way it all looks.

I love that blue one!
The one I saw before had a lighter blue. And it wasn't metallic. I think this blue is metallic?
It's so hard to find the real color when searching because so many pictures now are of cars with wraps. The blue looked something like this. But I can't tell if this pic is of a car with a wrap or not:

It might have been that top one. Hard to tell because colors look different in different lights.
That bottom one is super nice too. Is it metallic?
So many amazing cars. So many amazing colors. Only so much money and garage space for them.

I understand. That's why I always like to look at a color in person because it can sometimes look much different.
The bottom one is a metallic but its an older color so it doesn't have as much flake as modern metallic paints.
I know what you mean.

That's what I was thinking too. It looked like a wrap. The pic that was posted to Oppo was a bit different. But I can't find it now.

There really ought to be some kind of British law that any British automaker must offer their cars in British Racing Green.

Ah that makes sense that the older colors had less flake in them. It makes it look kind of cool.
Did you see the Oppo post the other day about an original Ford GT race car that originally sold at auction for $50K in the 70s?
I forget the exact value now but it's a LOT.
